C Congratulations to Julian Rucker, Natalie Daumeyer, Chris Petsko, & Alexandra Garr-Schultz on their successful Master's thesis defenses! Dorainne Levy and Alissa Mrazek passed their dissertation defenses with flying colors! Congratulations, Dr. Levy and Dr. Mrazek! Professor Richeson was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences during an April 30th ceremony in Washington, DC.
Julian Rucker and Alexandra Garr-Schultz have been awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship! Professor Richeson gave a Topical Lecture on the social psychology of shifting racial demographics in the US at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dorainne Levy has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship with the Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society at Indiana University!
Dorainne Levy and Vida Manzo have each been awarded a Graduate Research Grant for their dissertation research! Julian Rucker, Christopher Petsko, Alexandra Garr-Schultz, and Ryan Lei received travel awards for the SPSP 2016 Conference!
Ryan Lei has been awarded a Graduate Student Summer Research Grant from the Sexualities Project at Northwestern (SPAN)!

The SPCL wishes a warm goodbye to our graduating seniors, Jazz Stephens and Tricia Pendergrast! Alissa Mrazek has been awarded a Graduate Research Grant for her dissertation research!The National Academy of Sciences has elected Professor Richeson as one of its newest members.Professor Richeson has been named a winner of the 2015 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship!Julian Rucker, has been recognized with an honorable mention in the National Science Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship and named an alternate in the Ford Foundation Diversity Predoctoral Fellowship Competition. Alexandra Garr-Schultz has been recognized with an honorable mention in the Ford Foundation Diversity Predoctoral Fellowship Competition.
Winter 2015
Professor Richeson recently published an OpEd in the Washington Post on the value of race-related dialogues and cross-race interaction.Former SPCL postdoctoral fellow Mary Murphy won the CAREER award from the National Science Foundation! Professor Richeson co-wrote an OpEd with Historian Shana Bernstein on the value of multiracial coalitions. Former student, Vani Mathur accepted an Assistant Professor position at Texas A&M! Congratulations, Vani! Former SPCL grad Maureen Craig accepted an Assistant Professor postion at NYU, starting in July 2016! Congratulations, Maureen!

Professor Richeson's OpEd is featured in The Boston Globe, and SPCL research is mentioned on NPR! The SPCL welcomes new graduate students Natalie Daumeyer and Julian Rucker! We also welcome back Michelle Rheinschmidt-Same as a postdoctoral fellow and lab manager! Lauren Foley will begin a Master's program at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. We thank Lauren for her hard work as the lab manager and wish her the best in her program!

Hina Muneeruddin's poster presentation of her thesis won 2nd place for the social science & humanities section of the 2014 Undergraduate Research and Arts Exposition! Alissa Mrazek passed her Masters Thesis Defense! Congrats, Alissa! Former student, Vani Mathur's research on racial biases in pain perception is featured as a "journal club" article on the journal Pain's website. Maureen passed her dissertation defense with flying colors and is now Dr. Maureen Craig! Congrats, Mo! Maureen will begin a postdoctoral fellow position at The Ohio State University this summer! Maureen's research on the effects of shifting racial demographics in the United States on White Americans' racial attitudes and political ideology is receiving a lot of media attention! Vida Manzo passed her Masters Thesis Defense! Congrats, Vida! Alissa Mrazek won a research grant from the DRRC.

Former lab manager, Shanette Porter, accepted a position as a senior research analyst at the University of Chicago's Consortium on Chicago School Research (CCSR)!
